General Safety Rules Safe Direction: Keep muzzles pointed in a safe direction at all times, no matter if the gun is loaded or empty. Pointing a weapon at anything you do not wish to destroy ("flagging") is forbidden. Trigger Discipline: Keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot. Cold Range: All events run on a cold range. Firearms stay unloaded until it is your turn to shoot the course of fire (COF). Conduct of a Match (Non-Shooting Areas) Movement: When moving with a firearm outside of a stage, ensure the muzzle points safely and the action is cleared. Magazines Out: All participants must keep weapons cleared with magazines out when not actively competing. Chamber Flags: Empty Chamber Indicators (ECIs) or chamber flags should be used and fully inserted into the chamber when rifles are stored or racked. Substances: No alcohol or mind-altering drugs are allowed. Impairment results in immediate removal from the range. Conduct of a Course of Fire (COF) ECI Removal: Chamber flags stay in the rifle until the Range Officer (RO) gives the command to "Load and make ready". Accidental Discharges: Any unintentional discharge results in an immediate stop and a match disqualification. Leaving a Stage: No competitor may leave a stage with a loaded firearm.
